Audubon Park
We took a very short vacation to New Orleans Sunday-Monday for Jazz Fest (awesome). We planned to go to the botanical gardens before leaving on Monday, but it's closed on Mondays! So, we took a walk through Audubon Park instead. From a distance, we saw this tree dotted with white:
On closer inspection, it was FULL of nesting white herons (egrets?)! Can you spot the mother feeding her baby in the middle of this picture?

Hi Ginger- What a great picture. I can't believe you captured the mother feeding the baby. That is very cool. I would someday love to visit New Orleans, or anywhere with cool gardens. I am not too picky. It looks like you had fun and now you just have to go back to visit the botanical garden. Good excuse for another trip.
It's beautiful there. I love the heron pictures, how neat that you caught the mother feeding it's baby! I've always wanted to go to New Orleans, I bet you had a great time.
This looks like a great park. I've never been to the park before but after seeing these pics I would love to go.
HI Ginger, Love the egrets in the trees!! How cool. Looks like a beautiful place to see.
I love that zoo....the aquarium is high on my list as well! There is nothing I love more than spanish moss covering an oak tree...I don't know what it is about it.
Heather: You have such a positive attitude - I love it! Why be disappointed because things don't go perfectly when you can just be excited about taking another trip?!
Catherine: It's a fun place, full of culture and all different kinds of people. We love it there!
Susie: The park is HUGE and has a big track. You could run there!
Janet: There were so many, it was unbelievable! They are obviously very social birds!
Dirt Princess: I love the zoo, too. We went there last spring! I also love Spanish moss, but I had never seen it on crepe myrtles!! I'm not sure they are quite as resilient as the giant oaks so someone maybe should remove it!
Hi,Ginger --- New Orleans --- hopefully soon ???? Really??
Maybe mid to late 2010!
Interesting post. I had heard of this garden before, but never seen pictures. By the way, what a great photo of the bird feeding her baby...
Thanks! Everything is so lush in New Orleans in the spring. It's amazing how much more so than where I live, just three hours north!
I would have thought that was Orlando if you didn't tell me otherwise. Beautiful!
