Attract bees with overgrown, neglected shrubs!

While I was in the yard taking pictures for the previous post, I walked by an ugly old holly. "What was that noise?," I wondered, "A chainsaw in the distance?"
Nope. The holly is in bloom and it was covered with buzzing bees!

This shrub was slated to go the way of the other holly, but how can I deny it clemency now? After all, I'm always trying to attract bees!

You're too funny. I love the clemency part. I looked at some of those cool bamboo bee houses to try in my garden this year. No more bee spray for this girl. I might even let the wasps live provided I don't step on any this year:D

Heather,
It's funny how we feel so differently about bees and wasps, isn't it?! After some horrible stings, I will now kill a wasp without a second thought. I go out of my way for the bees, though - planting flowers they like, not using certain chemicals in the garden, etc.

I'm not a big fan of holly either but if I had this shrub I'd probably keep it just for my buzzing friends.

My shrubs got severy damaged this winter. Will see how they'll bloom.
