Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - March 2009

Wild violets:
This flower grows prolifically in the yard. I am unsure of its identity, but it resembles a white violet, if such a thing exists. The first strawberry flower!
Spiderwort: The bradford pears are almost done with this year's flowers...
...as evidenced by our driveway:
I grew up calling these "onion flowers." Is it weird that I love the smell?
A few muscari are still in bloom.
Lorapetalum and daffodils (please excuse the foundation work!):
I just bought this Joey at the garden show this weekend. It's supposed to be very heat and drought tolerant. I'm waiting a few more weeks to plant it in the front, in case we have a late freeze.
Carolina jessamine:
Katherine's overwintered gerbera daisy is on the verge of opening its first (red!) bloom.
White crocus and daffodil:
Clover in the yard:
Camellia still going strong!
Blueberry:

Hi Ginger- not only did you have a picture of a bloom for bloom day but you had a whole column of them. That is great. Guess the good weather is coming from the East and is heading our way. I will take it. I am done with snow.

Lovely. Daffodils are still my favorite.

This is the first Strawberry bloom I've seen! Yum!

Heather- I couldn't believe that many things were blooming in March, either! Of course, half of them are technically weeds!

Blossom- I love them, too. The cool thing is that about half of mine haven't opened yet (the big bright yellow, traditional ones) - I end up with about two months of daffodil blooms between the different species!

Tessa- Me, too! It really suprised me! I'm not sure how it will fair if we have a late freeze, but I was happy to see the strawberries are thriving in their new home.

Thanks for visiting me!

Happy rainy Monday...

I am glad you posted pics of the spiderwort. I took some pics of it in my Grandmas yard yesterday but was unsure of what it was..so thanks :). I also have wild violets in my yard around my shed...I think they are sweet. It is so exciting to see everything coming up!

Lovely! I am still wondering--what's the name of the second flower? It's charming.

You have some great blooms going on. So you went to the flower show too! We went early Sat. morning. I'll be interested to know what you think of that "Joey". We are growing that at work(I work at Gardenworks in Ridgeland). It's suppose to be a great heat and drought tolerant plant.

Dirt Princess, so glad to be of assistance! Spiderwort is a tough as nails plant. That's what the seven foot long root I had in an earlier post was from.

Daffodil Planter, I have no idea what it is, but there are THOUSANDS in my lawn! It has faint mauve-y lines emanating from the center but is mostly white. How awesome are thousands of free, cute flowers?!

Susie, I'll be sure to report back on the Joey!
