The gift that keeps on giving

I had a really stressful day at work, and left the office around six in an icky mood, dreading the work to be done both tonight and tomorrow.

Then I drove up to the house, and saw that three of these HUGE daffodils opened while I was at work today! I could see them from down the street! My eyes lit up and my nose could hardly stand the few-second wait.

They smell amazing. And I have my friend Lesley to thank, since she gave the bulbs to me for my birthday last year. My friend Lynn also gave me many of the blooming perennials in my yard. What an awesome gift for a gardener - a bulb or plant that will bring joy to the recipient every year, potentially for decades! I feel much better now. Thanks, friends!

Thanks, Tricia! You can't really tell from the photo, but it's nearly knee-high, and the flower head is huge. The magnitude was unexpected!

Ah, that's sweet of your friends. Daffodils are great flowers. A much needed burst of cheer, especially after a dog of a day.
